Christina's Breast Lift in New Jersey
Christina knew for quite a while that she wanted to do something about her large breasts. As a petite and physically active 27 year old, she resented that they got in the way while she was snowboarding, scuba diving and hiking. Additionally, she was bothered by the way her breasts "hung down to her stomach." After an extended vacation with her husband, where she was faced with the impact her breasts were having on her life, she returned home ready to take action.
Timing and Research
Christina had looked into breast enhancement in New Jersey a few years ago. At that time she was single, her life was less stable and financially, breast enhancement wasn't quite feasible for her. Fast forward to 2007 and the pieces of the puzzle all fell into place. Married to a supportive husband, and with clear financial goals set, she was prepared to do her research and make the change.
And do her research she did! When it came to finding the right doctor, Christina approached the task like an A+ student ready to ace the test. To get started, her sister, who had previously undergone breast augmentation surgery, shared some literature with her. Christina then went online, visiting plastic surgery association Web sites and searching for a cosmetic surgeon in New Jersey or Eastern Pennsylvania, continually educating herself along the way. Her diligent efforts led to consultations with six different doctors, where she learned even more – namely, that she needed a breast lift rather than the breast reduction that she had also considered.
Christina's Research Pays Off
Dr. Evan Sorokin, a cosmetic plastic surgeon in New Jersey, was one of the final doctors Christina met with. While she felt that all of the other surgeons she met with were qualified, she wasn't quite sold on any of them and didn't quite feel comfortable enough to schedule surgery. At her consultation with Dr. Sorokin, she appreciated his informal, personable approach. He met with her one-on-one at his desk and presented a slide show with illustrations and procedural information. All the while, Christina took copious notes. He encouraged her to ask as many questions as she liked, explained her options, reviewed pricing, and made her feel comfortable with all of the details. He even invited Christina to return with her husband for a second meeting if they wished. In the end, Christina and her husband found they had more than enough information and an additional meeting wasn't necessary – scheduling her breast lift in New Jersey was the next step.
Because breasts change shape during and after pregnancy, Dr. Sorokin asked Christina if she was planning to start a family. He doesn't recommend breast lift surgery for women who are planning to have children soon. Christina confirmed that having children wasn't in her plans for another couple of years, so that wasn't an issue. For now it was all about her. "At this age, I didn't feel that my breasts were an appropriate size and shape for being as young as I am."
The Day of Her New Jersey Breast Enhancement Surgery
Did Christina go into surgery calm, cool and collected? Not quite. "I was really scared. The only other surgery I'd had before was to get my wisdom teeth out and even then I had a hard time with recovery." Still, this was the big day and she was ready. It was an early morning in September 2007 and after having nothing to eat, Christina, who confesses she's not a morning person, recalls, "I was a wreck – nervous and nauseated." Thankfully the nurses at Dr. Sorokin's plastic surgery center in New Jersey helped her to feel better, get settled in and prepare for her procedure.
The surgery itself was uneventful. When Christina came to, she didn't feel terribly groggy, but was still sick to her stomach. She remained at the surgical center long enough to feel ready to go home. Her recovery went well; she was bedridden for the next couple of days and felt sore, but had no complications. Wrapped up, she couldn't tell how her breasts looked, and was nervous about the results. But even with all of the bandages, she could tell that her breasts were up higher, which caused the excitement to kick in.
Christina met with Dr. Sorokin a couple of days after her breast lift in New Jersey, while she was still bandaged and on medication. Her husband drove her to the appointment since, during recovery, she couldn't lift heavy objects or hold her arms up to drive. She was happy to learn that her progress was right on track. After a week had passed, she met with Dr. Sorokin for her second follow-up and it was at this appointment that he removed her bandages and she was able to see the results of her surgery. Her reaction? "They were beautiful. Really jacked up looking, but beautiful!" Christina found the bruises and stitches to be "kind of a scary sight," but she was able to look beyond that and notice that the shape and positioning of her breasts were great.
Clothes!
Before surgery, Christina wore a size 34C bra, which she now realizes probably should have been a 34D. "I just didn't want to be a D so badly," she confesses. Before her breast lift, she couldn't fit into or wear certain clothes because of how low her breasts drooped. She remembers, "I felt that every time I wanted to wear a tank top, I had to wear a sports bra to pull them in and hold them closer. I hated shopping for clothes." Christina's clothing options were pretty limited. Low cut shirts always required that she wear a camisole underneath and "Dresses were completely out of the question. I always had to make sure that anything I wore had thick straps so that I could hide a bra underneath it."
Today Christina's relationship with clothing is much improved. She enjoys shopping and is more daring with the items she tries on. Whether she's wearing tube tops or dresses, Christina enjoys the freedom with fashion that she never had before plastic surgery in New Jersey. She says, "It's an amazing thing because I can explore a bit more with my style." She recently asked Dr. Sorokin for her before and after photos, which he'd taken incrementally along the way throughout the process. Christina says she was "blown away by how I used to look. I remember being and feeling a certain way. It is uplifting and refreshing to feel different about your body."
Christina experienced an unexpected benefit too. "I'd always had back problems, but ever since I had the surgery, my back hasn't hurt at all." A great look and increased comfort – some of the many benefits of breast enhancement from New Jersey plastic surgeon Dr. Sorokin.
